For those of you not familiar with 'The Modern Boy' story paper, I'll quote from the editorial of another more famous boys' paper, 'The Magnet'. The quote is taken from the editorial dated February 4, 1928, issue no.1042: " All the big events of the day are discussed in the pages of the Modern Boy, and there are scores of wonderful photographs and black and white illustrations which will be of special interest to the boy who likes to keep in touch with what is going on in the world about him. "
The Modern Boy was published every Monday, price 2d and the "cards" it contained were collected and pasted into the album. This one one aeroplanes is complete and contains pictures of such racy types as the then extraordinary Supermarine S6 and Bristol Bulldog fighter, as well as the more sedentary Vickers Virginia Night Bomber. |
