‘Rover' (D.C.Thomson) began on 4th . March 1922 and ran to 14th . Jan. 1961. (number1855). It was joined by Adventure on 21st . Jan. 1961 to become Rover and Adventure. The last dated Rover and Adventure was 12th . Oct. 1963 after which it became Rover again for 5 weeks.

Following the demise of the Wizard on 16th . Nov. 1963 (number1970) the two papers joined to make the Rover and Wizard the following week. On the 16th . Aug. 1969 the ‘and Wizard' was dropped from the title. Rover ceased publication on 13th . Jan. 1973 and the following week joined Wizard to become Wizard and Rover

Nosey Parker. (1925-47). – comic strip.

Morgyn the Mighty. (1928). Beano 1938, Victor 1963.

Black Sapper and his ‘Earthworm' burrowing machine. (1929). Beezer 1959, Hotspur 1971-73.

Cast-Iron Bill. Bill Steele Britain's toughest goalkeeper. (pre-war).

‘It's Goals that Count'. Nick Smith England's famous inside-left. (1945). Hornet 1965-76, Hotspur 1976-80.

Alf Tupper, ‘The Tough of the Track' the fish and chip eating athlete/welder. (1949). Victor 1962.

I Flew with Braddock. (1952). Sergeant Matt Braddock ‘Britian's greatest pilot of the second world war'. His daring adventures won him the Victoria Cross and Bar. Victor 1961-83.
